Growing up in the expansive landscape of Northern Nevada, Lyla Nicole Rowen developed an appreciation for nature’s serenity. She spent time in the Pacific Northwest learning sculpture and textile fabrication before moving to Hawaii where she now focuses on weaving and ceramics. She thinks about the shapes and colors in nature that make her feel calmness and how to translate these harmonies into art. When exploring human nature, her aim is to express complex feelings with simple imagery.  Lyla is a recipient of a 2021 Oregon Arts Commission grant.
